FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

about renting a boat without a license

Do you have any questions?  Here we answer the most common questions our clients ask before renting a boat.

We're glad you asked!

What kind of boat can I drive without a boat license?

According to Greek law, a boat license is not required to drive a boat powered by a motor up to 30hp. These characteristics are ideal for calm and relaxed boating, with little or no previous boating experience.

What is the minimum age to rent a boat without a license?

To drive a boat you must be over 18 years old. For the rest of the participants, there is no minimum age, but children should be supervised at all times.

What ID should I bring when I go to pick-up the boat?

Please bring a valid Credit Card and Government ID such as a Drivers License or Passport.

Can I pick up the boat anytime within my rental period?

It's a good idea to come 30 minutes before your reservation to take care of any paperwork, get you acquainted with the boat and receive your complementary picnic basket to stock up on any supplies you may require (additional charge). However, if you wish to pick up the boat anytime within your rental period, just let us know in advance so we're aware when you'll be arriving.

I have never driven a boat.  Will I be able to handle it well?

Don't worry, we all have some degree of anxiety when it comes to boating for the first time. We will explain how the boat works and show you how to drive it if required; provide a map of the distances you must keep; where you're allowed to anchor; and how to find the hotspots on the island coast.

What is included in the price of the boat rental without a license?

The final booking price includes the rental of the boat during the contracted hours, necessary safety equipment, gasoline and all taxes (VAT). In addition, all boats are insured so you can enjoy your experience with peace of mind. Your deposit will be applied to the deductible to cover any minor damage that may occur.

What equipment is on the rental boat?

Our boats are equipped with a bimini sun cover or hard top (60%), cushioned seats and back rest, safety grab handles, Blue-tooth sound system, USB charger, anchor, bumpers, swim ladder, GPS trackers, lifejackets and  first-aid kit.

What places can I explore during my boat rental?

Many places! You'll be able to explore the famous nearby beaches and enjoy epic views from the sea of iconic places such as Navagio "Shipwreck" Beach;  swim at Blue Caves and Xigia "Sulphur" Beach; discover breathtaking, secluded coves along the coast to lay anchor, swim, lounge and just relax!

Can I visit neighbouring islands with my boat rental?

No. You must stay within 70m of the coastline and not go further than Navagio "Shipwreck" Beach to the North West and Alykes Beach to the South (we provide a map of the distances you must keep to keep you safe and also not run out of gas). Travelling beyond these areas will  trigger the GPS alarm and will result in the immediate termination of your boat rental and deposit forfeiture.

Can I bring my own food and beverages on board?

Yes. However, if you prefer we can gather certain items for you prior to your arrival - you may make those selections, for an additional fee, when booking your rental.

Can I change my reservation?

Of course! We understand that there may be changes in your plans and unforeseen events. Just let us know 72 hours in advance so we may reschedule your booking.

What happens if there is bad weather?

If the weather is not suitable to enjoy a safe boating experience on the day of your reservation, we will postpone and reschedule your reservation.
